foundation initiatives

In a time of limited government resources, foundations and non-profit groups play increasingly vital roles in the lives of communities. They work to promote adult and student literacy, they seek to improve health and wellness, and they campaign to educate citizens about the importance of voting, politics and civic engagement. Hollister Kids has a national record of achievement in creating materials that meet the goals of foundation and non-profit initiatives while engaging students and families on topics of local and national importance. Written to state and national education standards, these programs hold students' attention with colorful graphics and teach with lively, clear writing that connects with students' interests and cultural experiences. Foundations and non-profit groups have effectively used Hollister Kids materials in partnership with newspapers, as standalone pieces or as online resources.

Declare Yourself!

After a nationwide search, Norman Lear's Declaration of Independence Foundation chose Hollister Kids to create the voter education materials for its national Declare Yourself! Initiative. The goal was to raise political awareness and participation among votingage teenagers prior to the 2004 presidential election. The package included instructions on how to register to vote.

Declare Yourself! materials ran in more than 275 newspapers
